Girls Basketball – Hornets hang with Northampton for one quarter, but K-Kids control play after that in rolling to 66-39 win sending Emmaus to 0-3 start

Emmaus hung with Northampton at ‘The Hive’ and led by two after the first eight minutes of play (13-11), but it was all K-Kids in the middle quarters as they outscored the Hornets by a combined 44-14 on their way to an easy 66-39 win.

The loss was the third straight for Emmaus which dropped to 0-3 overall and 0-2 in the EPC. Northampton, meanwhile,  improved to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the league. 

Emmaus was led in scoring by junior Brooke Wunderler who scored all of her season-high 12 points in the first half. Fellow junior Alyssa Burkhart added eight.

The K-Kids were paced senior Victoria Keenan who led all scorers with a game-high 23 points. Another senior, Jenna Rogers, also finished in double figures with 17 points, while sophomore Morgan Sterner added 10. 

The Hornets will look to pick up their first win of the season on Saturday as they travel to Berks County to take on Wilson in a non-league game.
