RECAP >>   Emmaus posted a season-high for runs in a game as they mercy-ruled rival Central Catholic 19-2 on Monday at Sammy Balliet Stadium in Coplay. The game was carried LIVE on The Eastern Pa. Sports Network and presented by Benchmark Mortgage in Emmaus.

The win avenged an earlier-season loss 12-9, eight-inning loss to the Vikings on April 23 at Church Lane Park.

Emmaus improved to 16-4 overall and 13-3 in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference, tied for second place with rival Parkland.

The 19 runs scored by the Hornets was the most since an 18-3 win over Whitehall on April 28.

Senior catcher Dom Chiego led the Emmaus offense going 3-for-5 at the plate with a career-high five RBI, including his first career grand slam as part of a 10-run fifth inning.

Classmate designated hitter Colin Foley also had a big day with three hits and his sixth home run of the season, a two-run shot in the fourth.  Shortstop Anthony Viola added two hits and scored two runs.

Starter senior Luke Deschenes went just 2 2-3 innings and picked up the victory to improve to 7-1 on the season.

Central Catholic dropped to 8-9 overall and 8-8 in the EPC. The Vikings managed just two hits in the game.

Emmaus will now prepare for the upcoming EPC Tournament, which gets underway on Thursday. The Hornets are likely to be the No.2 or No.3 seed and host a first-round quarterfinal game against an opponent to be determined.
