RECAP >> Luke Deschenes had himself a night on Monday.
Deschenes, a first year player for the Emmaus Connie Mack baseball team, struck out 18 and gave up just one hit leading his team to a 6-0 road win at Northern Valley.
“(It was) one of the best performances I’ve ever seen,” said Emmaus head coach Mike Behr. “He made us all proud.”
Deschenes, who will be a sophomore at Emmaus High School this fall, had a no-hitter going into the bottom of the seventh inning until Northern Valley’s No. 9 hitter, Morgan LaBuda, broke up the ‘no-no’ with a one-out single.
Emmaus first baseman Jared Snyder had a big day at the plate as he went 2-for-3 with three RBI in the win. Left fielder Wyatt Buszka reached base three times, going 1-for-2 with an RBI, two walks and two runs scored.
The win helped Emmaus snap a three-game losing streak as they improved to 8-5 on the season. Northern Valley dropped to 5-6.
Emmaus followed up Monday night’s win with a 10-0 rout of Pen Argyl last night. Aidan Behr, Dylan Tacker and Austin Schaffer combined on the shutout. May Murray went 3-for-4 with four RBI.
Emmaus will return to action on Friday when they host Northampton (6-4) at 6 p.m. and then close out the week on Saturday at Noon against league-leading Moore Township (11-1). Both games will be played at Community Park
