RECAP >> Junior Noah Hogan and senior TJ Geist combined on one-hitter as Emmaus rolled to its fourth straight win of the season, 14-1 in five innings on Wednesday afternoon at Church Lane Park.
In his first career varsity start on the mound, Hogan went 2 2-3 innings allowing just one run on a hit, while striking out six to pick up the win. Geist then came on in relief and pitched 2 1-3 innings of scoreless ball.
Junior second baseman Emmit Budick led the Emmaus offense driving in three runs on two hits. Freshman right fielder Cole Moreau and senior center fielder Zach McEllroy each added two RBI in the win for the Hornets who improved to 4-0 overall and 3-0 in the EPC.
East Stroudsburg South dropped to 2-4 overall (2-3 EPC) with the loss. Jerry Lambert had the Cavaliers only hit of the game. Starter freshman Logan Rasmussen allowed seven runs in just two innings of work and suffered the defeat.
Emmaus will be back in action tomorrow at 4 p.m. as they host Hazleton in a non-league game. The Hornets lost twice to the Cougars last year, once during the regular-season and in the second round of the PIAA State Tournament.
