RECAP >> Juniors Noah Hogan and Cohen Schadler both had career days at the plate as Emmaus opened up its season with a 12-2 non-league win over Blue Mountain on a cold and windy afternoon Saturday at Church Lane Park.
Both players each drove in a career-high four RBI with Hogan blasting his first career home run, a three-run shot, as the Hornets (1-0) rallied from a 2-1 deficit in the bottom of the third inning plating five runs and then adding four more in the fourth to pull away for the victory.
Also in the win, junior second baseman Chad Kauffman went 2-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored while classmate left fielder Wiley Fleck went 1-for-2 with a double and three runs scored.
On the mound, three Emmaus pitchers combined to give up just two runs. Senior TJ Geist picked up the win in relief allowing just two hits in three innings of work. Freshman Cole Moreau made his varsity debut and struck out three in 1 1-3 innings.
Both teams managed just five hits in the game with Blue Mountain committing five errors. Three Eagles pitchers combined to issue 10 walks in the game.
Emmaus will return to action on Tuesday at 4 p.m. as they host Allen in their EPC opener.
