A seven-run third inning ignited Emmaus to its largest run total of the season as the Hornets continued to play well late, defeating a red-hot Whitehall team 12-6 on Thursday afternoon in their regular-season finale at Church Lane Park.

Emmaus ran its win streak to a season-best four games as they improved to 8-7 in the EPC and 11-8 overall. They also avenged for a 6-5 eight-inning loss to the Zephyrs just 11 days ago.

Junior Cole Moreau was the winning pitcher in the game improving to 4-2 on the season, and he also helped his own cause at the plate going 2-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI.

Another junior, third baseman Ryan Hummell, also had a big day at the plate with two hits and three RBI, while freshman centerfielder Tanner Karwacki drove in a pair of runs. Senior right fielder Logan Ravier scored four runs

Moreau, in his seventh start of the season, went 3 1/3 innings giving five runs on two hits while striking out five before giving way to classmate Jaden Betz, who pitched the final 3 1/3, allowing just one run while striking out six.

Whitehall, which entered the game riding a five-game win streak, was hurt by six errors in the game. Of the 12 Emmaus runs, only six were earned.

Senior Ryan Lindenmuth suffered the loss on the mound after allowing eight runs on three hits in just 2 1/3 innings.

Senior Zack Schaedel led the Zephs offense with a 2-for-4 at the plate with three RBI. Freshman Henry Shultz also added a pair of hits for Whitehall, which dropped to 10-5 in the league and 13-5 overall.

Emmaus will close out its regular season on Monday at 6:30 p.m. as they travel to rival Parkland. The game will be carried LIVE on The Eastern Pa. Sports Network.
