The Emmaus baseball team had a comeback for the ages yesterday at home at Church Lane Park as the Hornets scored 10 runs in their final at-bat to rally for a wild 11-8 come-from-behind win over Pocono Mountain West.

Senior Zach McEllroy provided the dramatics as his 3-run walkoff home run with the game tied 8-8 in the bottom of the seventh inning set off a wild celebration as the Hornets (5-2 EPC/6-4 overall) celebrated the victory and snapping a three-game losing skid.

The underdog Panthers had used a six-run seventh-inning to take a 8-1 lead before watching Emmaus rally in the bottom half of the inning.

McEllroy finished the day 2-for-5 at the plate with four RBI, while teammate junior Noah Hogan also drove in four runs to go along with a 3-for-5 effort. Classmate Wiley Fleck also had a pair of hits and scored three runs.

On the mound, junior Taylor Davis picked up his first career varsity win in relief throwing just five pitches. Junior Shane Ohl was making his second start of the game and went 4 1-3 innings before giving way to senior TJ Geist.

PM West (3-5 EPC/4-6 overall) was led by Matt Marinovich who went 4-for-4 at the plate. Marinovich was also the starting pitcher for the Panthers giving up five runs on eight hits in six innings. Will Mecca suffered the loss in relief.

Emmaus will return to action at 6 p.m. on Thursday as they take on rival Parkland at Coca-Cola Park. The game will be aired LIVE on The Eastern Pa. Sports Network beginning at 5:40 p.m.
