RECAP >> A three-run sixth inning proved to be the difference on Tuesday afternoon at Northampton as the Konkrete Kids rallied for a 4-3 win over Emmaus sending the Hornets to their third straight defeat.
Emmaus had led 2-1 behind heading to the bottom of the sixth inning when Northampton scored three runs on no hits and chased starter Luke Deschenes, who suffered his first loss of the season (5-1). Deschenes was the tough-luck loser going 5 2/3 innings and allowing just three hits while striking out eight.
The Konkrete Kids were able to win despite only having three hits in the game and they atoned for an earlier-season 5-0 loss to Emmaus back on April 8.
The defeat dropped the Hornets to 10-2 in the EPC and 12-3 overall, while Northampton won for the third time in the last four games and improved to one game over .500 at 6-5 in the league and 7-6 overall.
Senior catcher Dom Chiego had a season-high three hits in the loss for Emmaus. Junior left fielder Zach McEllroy had a triple and drove in a run, while senior Anthony Viola went 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Hunter Corrow was the winning pitcher for Northampton. The lefthander went the distance scattering seven hits and striking out eight while issuing no walks.
Emmaus will return to action on Thursday at 4 p.m. as they travel to Whitehall.
