Baseball (Legion) – Lower Mac rolls over rival Emmaus 11-0 behind Geist and Company

RECAP >> Lower Mac jumped on rival Emmaus early and often and cruised to an easy 11-0 win in Lehigh Valley Legion baseball action Saturday night at Limeport Stadium.

Head coach Jeff Smith’s team, playing its eighth game in seven days, bounced back from a disappointing 10-0 loss to North Parkland one day earlier as they scored five runs in the top of the first inning and were never challenged the rest of the way.

The win improved Lower Mac to 5-3-1 on the season, while Emmaus remained winless on the season as they dropped to 0-10.

Third baseman Dom Chiego was 2-for-4 with two RBI for the winners’, left fielder Taylor Davis also had two hits and starting pitcher TJ Geist went 2-for-2 with two RBI.

Geist also picked up his second win of the season on the mound as he held Emmaus to just a pair of hits in four innings of work. Anthony McWhinney came on in the fifth and preserved the shutout.

For Emmaus, shortstop Nate Sauter and and third baseman Kaden Zacharda each had a hit. Zach Werthheimer suffered the loss after being touched up for nine runs on six hits in 4 1-3 innings. Emmaus was shutout for the fourth time this season.

Both teams will be back in action on Monday at 7 p.m. Lower Mac will return to Limeport to take on Southern Lehigh, while Emmaus will host Northern Valley at Community Park.
