Baseball (Legion) – Walks hurt Lower Mac in season-opener as they fall to Northern Valley 9-1

RECAP >> An eight-run second inning doomed Lower Mac in its Lehigh Valley Legion opener on Tuesday night at Church Lane Park as visiting Northern Valley rolled to a 9-1 victory.

Lower Mac actually outhit Northern Valley 5-4 in the game, but walks hurt the home team as three pitchers combined to issue 10 free passes.

Starter Kaden Muller suffered the loss issuing five walks in just 1 1/3 innings of work. Muller only gave up one hit, but did allow seven runs — all earned. 

Zach McEllroy was the only LM player with multiple hits going 2-for-3 with a double and a solo home run. Logan Ravier, TJ Geist and Ryan Bennett each had one hit.

For Northern Valley (1-0), starter Shaun O’Donnell was outstanding on the mound as he picked up the win striking out 10 and scattering just four hits in four innings of work. Chase Moyer pitched the final three innings.

Evan Druckenmiller went 1-for-3 at the plate with two RBI for the Chargers, while Nicholas Scott was 2-for-2.

Lower Mac will look to bounce back tonight at 6 p.m. as they travel to Allentown.
