Lower Macungie has earned the top seed for the upcoming Berks County Area Junior Legion League Tournament.
Head coach Shawn Betz’s squad recently wrapped up the regular-season on a four-game win streak and finished with a 19-2 record. The team posted shutout wins over Boyertown Grizzlies (13-0) and Hamburg (15-0 and 10-0) and an 11-3 victory over Fleetwood.
Lower Mac will open up play in the 8-team double elmination tournament tonight at 5 p.m. at Church Lane Park hosting No.8 seed Norchester.
Defending champ Upper Perk earned the No.2 seed followed by Daniel Boone (No.3), Perk Valley (No.4), West Lawn (No.5), Post 625 (No.6), Boyertown Bear Cub (No.7), Norchester (No.8), Spring City (No.9) and Shillington (No.10). The playoffs will run until July 13 when a champion is crowned. By virtue of earning the top overall seed, Lower Mac has already clinched a berth in the regional tournament at Berwick on July 21. The Berks #2 and #3 teams will also head to regionals.
