At Emmaus, the Hornets raced out to a big early lead against an undermanned Stroudsburg team last night and rolled to its third victory of the season in a 63-36 rout of the Mountaineers.
A total of 12 different players saw action for first year head coach Jerald’s Brown team, who improved to 3-4 in the EPC and 3-8 overall.
Senior Mike Rooney had the hot hand early scoring eight points in the opening quarter and finishing with a game-high 12 points to lead Emmaus, which was playing its first game in nearly two weeks. For his efforts, Rooney was named the Player of the Game on the LIVE broadcast on The Eastern Pa. Sports Network.
Another senior, Owen Hafner, also reached double figures with 10 points for the Hornets who scored a season-high for points in a game.
Emmaus, which led 20-11 after the first quarter and by a 45-19 advantage at the break, also got solid contributions from its bench which produced 31 points led by sophomore Matt Rooney’s nine, a career high.
Stroudsburg, playing without three starters due to injury, was paced by freshman Tae El-Bassiouni who scored a team-high nine points. Juniors Kam Knight and Deon Davis each added eight for the Mountaineers (1-7 EPC/2-10 overall)
Emmaus will return to action this afternoon at 2 p.m. as they travel to Methacton (8-3) for a non-league game.
