Basketball – Boys comeback falls short as they drop fourth straight in 57-45 loss to CCHS; girls struggle offensively in 44-21 loss to Vikettes.

CCHS 57, Emmaus 45 (Boys)

RECAP >> The Hornets put up a valiant effort last night at ‘The Hive’ against pre-season favorite Central Catholic, trailing by as many as 19 points in the third quarter, then cut the Viking lead to 10 late in the fourth, before eventually falling 57-45 loss at ‘The Hive.’ The game was broadcasted Live on The Eastern Pa. Sports Network.

The loss was the fourth straight for head coach Steve Yoder’s team which dropped to 1-4 on the season.

For Emmaus, senior Jameel Sanders returned to the lineup after missing the last two games and came off the bench to score 10 of his team-high 13 points in the second half. Junior Jadis Brevitt also came off the bench and just missed double figures finishing with a season-high nine points.

CCHS (7-2 overall) was led in scoring by the 1-2 punch of senior Liam Joyce who had a game-high 19 points and classmate Tyson Thomas’ 17.

The Hornets will return to action on Saturday at 1 p.m. as they host Whitehall.

RECAP >> The Hornets struggled all night offensively last night at Rockne Hall as they were held to a season-low for points in a game in a 44-21 loss to Central Catholic. The game was carried Live on The Eastern Pa. Sports Network.

Emmaus, which trailed 21-4 at the half, dropped its second consecutive game as they fell to 3-2 on the season.

Senior Steph Klemick led the Hornets with a team-high eight points.

CCHS (4-2 overall) was led in scoring by senior Emily Vaughan who had four 3-pointers and a game-high 14 points. Teammate junior Julia Roth just missed double figures and finished with nine. After a 1-2 start, the Vikettes have won three straight.

The Hornets will look to get back on track on Saturday at 7 p.m. as they travel to Whitehall (1-2).
