A grueling stretch of 10 games in 20 days came to an end last night at Rockne Hall for the Hornets as they fell from the ranks of the unbeaten in the EPC in a six-point loss against the Vikings.
Despite being held to their lowest offensive output of the season and committing a season-high 17 turnovers in the game, Emmaus still had a chance to win the game late, but Central was able to pull away down the stretch and the Hornets their first loss in the league (5-1) and second overall (8-2).
Junior Jahrel Vigo led the Vikes (4-2 EPC/6-3 overall) to the victory scoring 13 of his game-high 21 points in the second half, while classmate Lucas Mushrush got hot in the second half and scored eight of his 11 points. Mushrush had three 3-pointers on the night and as team, Central had seven.
For Emmaus, senior Will Barber reached double figures for the 10th straight game finishing with a team-high 15 points, while seniors Teague McCourt and Jack Curley-Katrishen each added eight.
The Hornets won’t return to action until after the holiday break when they travel to Stroudsburg at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 3.

A big early deficit and too much Molly Driscoll proved difficult for the Hornets last night as they fell at home against the Vikettes.
Emmaus trailed 18-3 after one quarter, battled back to make it a four-point game (28-24) at the half, but Central Catholic pulled away in the second half as the Hornets dropped their third straight game falling to 3-5 overall and 3-3 in the EPC.
Driscoll had a night to remember for the Vikettes (4-2 EPC/5-3 overall) as she drained seven 3-pointers and finished with a career-high 26 points in leading her team to the victory.
The Hornets were led in scoring by sophomore Gabby DeVita who matched her season high of 12 points. Another sophomore, Olive Whitney, provided a spark off the bench with 10, while freshman Kayla Snyder added seven.
Emmaus will return to action on Wednesday, December 27 at 3 p.m. when they travel to Easton to take on the defending District XI 6A champs in the Easton Rotary Club Tournament.
