Basketball – DeVita and Sokolofski power Hornets past Northampton 50-39

After trailing by three at halftime, Emmaus outscored Northampton 29-15 the rest of the way as the Hornets picked up a key 50-39 win over the Konkrete Kids last night in a game played at Northampton.

The victory marked a regular-season sweep for Emmaus, which had also defeated Northampton 53-34 in the first meeting between the two schools.

Sophomore Gabby DeVita led a balanced scoring attack for the winners’ as she scored a season-high 14 points. Junior Sylvia Sokolofski came off the bench and added a career-high 12 points and senior Mya Cooper and freshman Kayla Snyder added nine and eight points, respectively for Emmaus which improved to 7-8 overall and 5-5 in the EPC.

Northampton (4-13 overall/3-8 EPC) was led in scoring by Anne Beenders who had a game-high 15 points. Teammate Jenna Raysely added eight.

The Hornets will return to action tonight at 7 p.m. as they travel to Whitehall (6-10/5-6)
