Basketball – Doemling scores game-high 13 points to lead balanced scoring attack as Hornets pick up 51-36 road win over CCHS in EPC opener.

Emmaus used a balanced scoring attack to pick up its second win in as many years at Rockne Hall last night as the Hornets rolled over Central Catholic 51-36 in their Eastern Pennsylvania Conference opener.

Senior Cassie Doemling led with a game-high 13 points, while sophomore Kayla Snyder added 12 and junior Olive Whitney came off the bench to drill four 3-pointers and also finish with 12 for Emmaus (2-0 overall/1-0 EPC). Junior Gabby DeVita just missed reaching double figures finishing the game with nine points.

Emmaus outscored CCHS in all four quarters, jumping out to a 15-12 lead after the first quarter and building a six-point lead (23-17) at the break. The Hornets outscored the Vikettes 28-19 after halftime.

Central Catholic (0-1) was led in scoring by junior Morgan Seagreaves who had a team-high 11 points. Teammate Milly Wolf added eight, but went 0-for-6 from the free-throw line where the Vikettes as a team shot just 50 percent (10-for-20).

Emmaus will play its third straight road game on Thursday as they travel to Nazareth for a 7 p.m. tip.
