If there was any question on how Emmaus would respond following its season-opening loss to Wilson over the weekend, the Hornets answered it with a statement win in their Eastern Pennsylvania Conference opener last night against visiting Central Catholic.
After trailing by six points after one quarter, Emmaus’ offense went into high gear as they dominated the Vikings on their way to a 69-44 rout at home at ‘The Hive.’
The Hornets, who defeated Central Catholic in all three meetings a year ago, including in the EPC playoffs, outscored the Vikettes 59-28 over the final three quarters to pick up their first win of the season.
Senior Gabby DeVita led all a balanced scoring attack for Emmaus (1-1) with a game-high 15 points. Sophomores Eva Glover and Gracie Ervin both added career-high 14 and 13 points, respectively, while senior Olive Whitney chipped in eight and sophomore Olivia Haberl seven.
Central Catholic (0-1) was led by senior Morgan Seagreaves who had a team-high 13 points. Classmate Shamiya Roberts added 10 and Alyssa Hursh had eight.
Emmaus will return to action on Thursday at 7 p.m. as they host Nazareth. The game will be carried LIVE on The Eastern Pa. Sports Network beginning with pregame coverage at 6:45 p.m.
