Basketball – Hornets fall behind Whitehall early, rally late before dropping its fourth straight game 54-45

RECAP >> Emmaus trailed by 14 at the half – 25-11 – on the road Tuesday at Whitehall and despite a comeback late, the rally came up short as the Hornets fell to Whitehall 54-45.

The loss was the fourth straight for Emmaus which dropped to 0-4 in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference and 1-5 overall. It was also the sixth straight time the Hornets have lost to the Zephyrs dating back to the 2016-17 season.

Senior Alyssa Burkhart led Emmaus in scoring with a season-high 12 points, while teammate junior Gabrielle Martin added a season-best 9.

Whitehall (2-4 overall/1-3 EPC) was paced by senior Grace Clary who led all scorers with a game-high 22 points. Junior Meghan Hutter added 13 for the Zephyrs who shot 70 percent from the free-throw line (19-of-27) compared to just 36 percent (5-of-14 for Emmaus)
