Basketball – Hornets off to a 3-0 start after picking up 13-point road win at Allen; Watkins matches career-high with 14 points in victory

RECAP >> Emmaus picked up its third win in as many games and is off to one of its best starts in recent history as the Hornets went on the road and defeated Allen 42-29 Thursday night at Sewards Gymnasium in Allentown.

Junior Kam Watkins followed up her career-high 14-point effort from her team’s win over Dieruff on Tuesday with another 14-point game to lead all scorers.

Also for Emmaus, senior Marah Sisonick had a solid game just missing double figures and finishing with nine points, while junior Grace Oglesbee came off the bench to add eight points in the win for the Hornets who improved to 3-0 on the season.

Allen was led in scoring by senior Amyyah Williams and sophomore Destiny Davis who each scored 10 points. The Canaries are 0-2 on the season.

Emmaus outscored Allen all four quarters, leading led 11-8 after the first eight minutes, 19-12 at the half and building an 11-point lead (33-22) after three quarters.

The two teams will meet again on Saturday at 1 p.m. as Allen travels to Emmaus.
