At Whitehall on Thursday night, Emmaus bounced back from its first league off the season by rolling to a 37-point win over the Zephyrs.
The Hornets, who were coming off a 50-35 loss to Becahi on Monday, raced out to a 14-2 lead after the first eight minutes and were in cruise control the rest of the game as they outscored Whitehall in all four quarters.
Senior Gabby DeVita led all scorers with a game-high 13 points while classmate Sierra Stevens added 11 for Emmaus which improved to 12-3 overall and 10-1 in the EPC.
Whitehall was led in scoring by Corynn Troxell who had a team-high six points. The Zephyrs, who managed just six field goals in the game, dropped to 6-10 overall and 4-7 in the league following the loss.
Emmaus will return to action tonight at 7:15 p.m. with a difficult road test at District 2 power Hazleton. The Cougars are 14-1 on the season and handed the Hornets an 82-44 defeat at year ago at ‘The Hive.’
