Boys Basketball – Becahi uses big third quarter to pull away and hand Hornets 60-46 setback.

At Bethlehem Catholic on Monday night, Emmaus trailed by just one point at the half (21-20) but a big third quarter by the Golden Hawks allowed them to pull away for a 60-46 victory over the Hornets.

Emmaus, which had two straight and three of its last four, was looking to get to the .500 mark for the first time this season and improve its chances of securing the final spot in the upcoming EPC Tournament but Becahi had other ideas.

The Golden Hawks got a big effort from head coach Scott McClary’s son, senior Parker McClary, who led all scorers with five 3-pointers and a game-high 24 points. McClary had 17 of those points in the third quarter as Becahi outscored Emmaus 22-10.

Fellow senior Roman Jackson added 15 points and 11 rebounds in the win, while classmates Sammy Barona Jr. and Brodie Muir added 9 and 8 points, respectively for Becahi which improved to 4-6 in the EPC and 8-7 overall.

Emmaus was led by juniors Matt Rooney and Jacob Ross who each scored 15 points. The loss dropped the Hornets to 4-6 in the league and 6-8 overall.

Head coach Eric Luckenbill’s team will return to action on Thursday at 7 p.m. as they host Whitehall (4-6/6-9) in a key EPC matchup. The game will be carried LIVE on The Eastern Pa. Sports Network beginning at 6:45 p.m.
