Jametric Harris put on show for the hometown fans at Emmaus High School last night in the Hornets home opener.

It was a performance that he and the near-capacity crowd at ‘The Hive’ will remember for a long time.

The Hornets 6-foot-3 junior known as ‘J-Mo’ scored a career-high 24 points as Emmaus defeated Allen 67-57 in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference opener for both teams.

Harris, whose previous career-high was 11 at Upper Perkiomen last year, drained a career-best five 3-pointers in the game and scored 12 points in both halves as the Hornets pulled away late to improve to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the EPC.

In the victory, junior Will Barber added 18 points – 12 coming in the second half – while senior Dylan Darville added 14. Both players have reached double figures in all three games.

Allen, playing its first game of the season, dropped to 0-1 with the loss. The Canaries had three players reach double digits led by senior Darius Brant who came off the bench to score a team-high 13 points. Senior Adrian Figueroa and junior Aaron Schneider added 12 and 11 points, respectively. Allen finished 14-9 a season ago and graduated four of their top five scorers, including Nate Ellis who finished his career with over 1500 points.

Emmaus will be back in league action on Friday at 7 p.m. as they travel to Dieruff to take on the Huskies.
