It was an uphill battle on Saturday afternoon for the Hornets making a long road trip up to Abington Heights for a non-league game and coming away with a 26-point loss to the Comets, 63-37.
Emmaus, which had won two of its past three games, fell behind early and never recovered as they were outscored in all four quarters in falling to 2-8 on the season. It was also the third straight year that the Hornets have loss to the Comets.
In a losing effort, senior Jack Csensits accounted for nearly half of the team’s offense scoring a team-high 15 points. No other player scored more than six points for Emmaus which was held to its second lowest point total of the season.
Abington Heights, which entered the contest 2-3, was led in scoring by senior Rob Lucas who had four 3-pointers and a game-high 20 points. Junior Jordan Shaffer added 18 for the Comets who had eight 3s in the game.
Emmaus will return to action after the new year when they host Stroudsburg on January 3 at 7 p.m.
