Trailing by as many as 15 points in the third quarter on the road last night at Stroudsburg, Emmaus was able to put together and incredible rally late to pull off a wild 53-52 win over the Mountaineers.
The Hornets, who had not been in action since suffering a 46-40 loss to Central Catholic on December 21, trailed for most of the game to the red-hot shooting Stroudsburg team but were able to get their first lead of the night early in the fourth quarter and then hold on at the end for the one-point victory.
Senior Will Barber had a monster game in leading Emmaus (6-1 EPC/9-2 overall) to the come-from-behind victory as he poured in 28 points to lead all scorers. Barber is now just 24 points shy of 1,000 for his career.
Classmate Jametric Harris added 11 and junior Jack Csensits came off the bench to add eight key points for the Hornets.
Stroudsburg (3-4 EPC/6-5 overall) was led in scoring by senior Micaiah Brown who had a team-high 18 points. Teammate Richard Gilmore added 13 and Kamoni Smith-Johnson 11 for the Mounties who had their four-game win streak snapped.
The two teams combined for 12 3-pointers in the game — Stroudsburg 7, Emmaus 5.
Up next for the Hornets will be a key road matchup at rival Parkland on Monday at 7 p.m. The game will be carried LIVE on The Eastern Pa. Sports Network’s YouTube channel with pregame coverage beginning at 6:45 p.m.
