Boys Basketball – Hornets overcome early deficit to defeat Allen in EPC opener 51-37 and move to 3-0 for first time since the 2018-19 season

RECAP >>   Emmaus overcame an early 11-point deficit in its Eastern Pennsylvania Conference opener on Tuesday night at Allen High School as the Hornets rallied for a 51-37 win over the defending District XI Class 6A champs.

Sophomore Will Barber was one of three players to reach double figures as he lead the offense with a team-high 12 points for the Hornets who improved to 3-0 overall for the first time since the 2018-19 season. 

Junior Dylan Darville, despite being under the weather, also finished in double figures scoring nine of his 11 points in the first half, while senior Jadis Brevitt also had a solid game with 11. Junior Wilson Charlot came off the bench and gave valuable minutes scoring a career-high seven points for Emmaus, which won at Allen for the first time since the 2015-16 season.

The Hornets trailed early in this one as Allen drained four 3-pointers in the opening quarter to take an 18-10 lead. Emmaus outscored the hosts 13-6 in the second quarter to trail by just one at the break (24-23), then dominated the second half with a 28-13 scoring margin over the Canaries.

Allen, who played without senior standout guard Nate Ellis (out with an injury), were led in scoring by Eli Vigo who had a game-high 13 points.

Emmaus will return to action on Friday at home as they host Dieruff. Tip time is 7 p.m.
