RECAP >> Emmaus got tested early in its road contest at Pleasant Valley on Tuesday night, but every time the home team made a run the Hornets had an answer of their own as they eventually pulled away for an eight-point win, 57-49 to remain the lone unbeaten in the EPC.
Junior Jametric Harris led Emmaus in scoring finishing with a team-high 16 points for the Hornets who improved to 7-0 in the league and 10-2 overall.
Senior Jackson Lake matched his season and career-high for points in a game adding 13, while junior Will Barber had 10. Senior Jake Fotta just missed double digits and finished with seven for head coach Steve Yoder’s team which shot a season-best 93 percent (14 of 15) from the free-throw line.
Emmaus trailed 9-7 after the first quarter but outscored Plesant Valley 14-8 in the second to take a four-point lead (21-17) into the break. The Hornets led by as much as 13 points in the third before the Bears made a run late to get to within single digits.
Pleasant Valley was led in scoring by senior Jarod Moore who had a team-high 16 points. Classmate Patrick Moore added 13 for the Bears who dropped to 3-5 in the EPC and 5-7 overall.
Emmaus will return home on Friday night to host rival Parkland at 7 p.m. The game will be carried LIVE on The Eastern Pa. Sports Network beginning at 6:40 p.m.
