RECAP >> Junior Will Barber connected on a pair of free throws with just 9.3 seconds left in overtime as the Hornets won a wild one at Freedom last night 66-65.
The victory was the seventh straight for Emmaus which improved to 7-1 overall and 4-0 in the EPC.
Freedom had a chance to win the game following Barber’s two free throws but senior Nick Ellis’ running layup was no go good as Dylan Darville got the rebound and the Hornets celebrated the victory.
Barber finished with 15 points and was one of four Hornets to reach double figures in Emmaus’ balanced scoring attack. Seniors Darville and Jake Fotta also scored 15 points in the win, while junior Jametric Harris added 13.
Freedom (3-1 EPC/4-2) was led in scoring by Ellis who had a game-high 23 points. Classmate Aaron Levy added 20.
The Hornets shot 50 percent from the floor (22 of 44 ) compared to Freedom’s 41 percent (22 of 53). Both teams had eight 3-pointers in the game.
Emmaus will return to action at 7 p.m. on Thursday as they host East Stroudsburg South in a makeup game postponed from last week. The game will be carried LIVE on www.easternpasportsnetwork.com beginning at 6:40 p.m.
