RECAP >> Junior Teague McCourt came off the bench and provided a much-needed spark for Emmaus on Saturday afternoon at ‘The Hive’ as the Hornets rallied for a high-scoring 76-62 non-league win over Governor Mifflin from Berks County.

McCourt scored 14 of his career-high 17 points in the second half and was one of five players to score in double figures for head coach Steve Yoder’s team which outscored the Mustangs 52-35 in the second half to win their sixth straight game in improving to 6-1 overall.

Junior Will Barber led the Hornets in scoring for the fifth time in seven games as he shared scoring honors with 21 points. Classmate Jametric Harris reached double figures for the third straight game and for the fourth time in the last five adding 13 points, while seniors Jake Fotta and Dylan Darville each added 11.

Governor Mifflin, which was coming off of 32-point loss to Muhlenberg last night, came ready to play from the opening whistle and led for much of the first half in taking a 27-24 lead into the locker room. They trailed by just two after three quarters (42-40), but had no answers in the final eight minutes of the game, allowing 34 points to the Hornets who wound up with their highest offensive output of the season.

Senior Delsin McNeil had five 3-pointers and led Governor Mifflin in scoring with a team-high 21 points. Junior Darryll Johnson Jr. came off the bench and added 13, including three 3-pointers for the Mustangs who had nine 3’s in the game.

Both teams shot well from the free-throw line with Governor Mifflin shooting 79 percent (15-of-19) compared to Emmaus’ 70 percent (28-of-40).

The Hornets will return to league action on Tuesday at 7 p.m. as they travel to Bethlehem to take on Freedom (3-0 EPC/4-1 overall).
