RECAP >> Junior Meech Rogers only scored four points last night, but they two of the biggest baskets his team needed to escape with a road victory at Whitehall.
Rogers running acrobatic layup in the waning seconds broke a 37-all tie in the fourth quarter as Emmaus survived a furious Whitehall comeback – and kept the Zephyrs winless on the season – with a low-scoring 39-37 victory.
It was the second win by the Hornets (3-4 overall) over Whitehall since the two teams had last met back on January 30 — a 47-39 Emmaus win. Head coach Steve Yoder’s team hadn’t been in action since then due to rising covid cases at the high school.
Senior Patrick Tulio finished with a career-high 15 points for the Hornets, who led by double digits most of the way before Whitehall began their rally. Classmates Shep Henseler and Jameel Sanders each added seven.
Whitehall, which dropped to 0-10, was paced by junior Torrey Tyson who had a game-high 12 points.
Emmaus will return to action on Wednesday night as they travel to Rockne Hall to take on Central Catholic. The game will be carried LIVE on www.easternpasportsnetwork.com beginning at 6:45 p.m.
