RECAP >> Trailing by as many as six goals at Wilson on Saturday, Emmaus put together a furious rally in the second half as they got to within a goal with four minutes left to play, but the Hornets comeback fell short as they fell 12-10 to the Bulldogs in a non-league game.

The loss capped off a tough week for head coach Desi Gonzalez’s squad which suffered its third straight loss and dropped to 10-3 overall. It was also the third straight season that Emmaus has fallen to Wilson.

Junior Michael Leschinsky had his third four-goal game of the season to lead the Hornets offense. Classmate Alex Adamczyk scored a pair of goals and senior Evan Bhagat also had his eighth multi-goal game of the season. Sophomore Zach Whalen added a goal and an assist, while senior Sam Conway scored his 22nd goal of the season. Junior Grant Hawkins had a game-high three assists.

Emmaus fell behind early as the hosts scored five goals in the opening quarter and led 5-0. Both teams scored three goals in the second to make it an 8-3 Wilson lead at the half before the Hornets outscored the Bulldogs 7-4 after halftime to make the final margin a two-goal game.

The Hornets were without the services of senior midfielder Bailey O’Connor and senior defenseman Ryan Thomas who both sat out the game due to injuries.

Wilson was led by senior Mason Lenhart who shared scoring honors with Leschinksy with a game-high four goals. Fellow senior Jack Grayson also had a four-point game (2 goals/2 assists), while classmates Ethan Stitzel and and Corey Powers each had two goals for the Bulldogs who won their eighth straight game and improved to 9-3 on the season.

Emmaus will return to action on Tuesday at 4 p.m. when they return to league play taking on rival Central Catholic at Cedar Crest College. The Vikings won the first meeting between the two teams earlier this week 11-5.
