Boys lacrosse – Flok reaches milestone, Hornets used balanced scoring attack to continue mastery over Hershey with 10-2 win

RECAP >> Senior Connor Flok registered a hat trick, including his 100th career goal, spurring on a balanced scoring attack as Emmaus continued its dominance over District 3 foe Hershey with a 10-2 win on Saturday morning at Hershey High School.

Flok was one of seven different players to find the back of the net for the Hornets who won their third straight game in improving to 6-1 overall. Emmaus also defeated Hershey for the fifth time in the last six years.

Emmaus was in a battle early on as they jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opening quarter on goals from sophomore Will Barber and Flok before Hershey rallied with two Cole Sampson scores to tie the game at 2-2. After that, however, it was all Hornets as they scored eight unanswered goals to roll to the victory.

Barber had a goal and a game-high three assists in the win, junior Ty Beson scored a pair of goals and added an assist, while seniors Logan Mains, Ben Thomas and Liam Porreca each scored a goal and an assist. Sophomore Ben Rainford (two saves) and senior Jared Speicher (one) combined on the win in goal allowing no goals after the opening quarter.

Hershey suffered its fourth straight loss and dropped to 1-5 on the season. Cole Sampson scored both of his team’s goals. In goal, Noah Amato played outstanding making 23 saves.

Emmaus will return to action on Tuesday as they host Pleasant Valley at 6 p.m.
