Boys Lacrosse – Hornets move to 7-0 on the season as they rout Nazareth 12-2 behind Whalen’s five-goal effort

RECAP >> Senior Zach Whalen scored a career-high five goals leading Emmaus to an easy 12-2 win over Nazareth on Friday night at Memorial Field. The game was carried LIVE on The Eastern Pa Sports Network.

Whalen, whose previous high was four goals earlier this season in a win over Saucon Valley, registered a hat trick in the first half as the Hornets jumped out to a 4-0 lead before comfortably building a 9-2 advantage at the half.

The victory keeps Emmaus unbeaten on the season as they improve to 7-0 overall and 4-0 in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference. Nazareth dropped to 5-3 and 3-3.

Freshman Will Barber, senior Cade Speicher and junior Connor Flok scored a pair of goals in the win, while junior Zack Younker had a game-high three assists.

In goal, senior Ben Franco and junior Jared Speicher combined to give up just a pair of goals for the Hornets who outshot Nazareth 20-4 in the win and held a 15-3 advantage at the faceoff-X.

Emmaus will return to action this afternoon at 4 p.m. as they host Southern Lehigh in a non-league game.
