RECAP >> Playing in its final regular-season home game on Senior Night Monday at Memorial Field, Emmaus found itself in a battle against a much-improved Northwestern Lehigh team as the Tigers battled the Hornets to a 2-2 tie at the half.
The second half, however, Emmaus was able to pull away as they outscored the visitors 5-1 in the third quarter on their way to a 9-6 win.
Senior Logan Mains, one of 13 seniors honored prior to the game, scored a career-high four goals to lead Emmaus (11-6 overall), which had its three-game losing streak snapped.
Seniors Connor Flok and Liam Porecca also scored in the win, while junior Aidan Garrett and sophomores Will Barber and Liam Rooney found the back of net. Senior Jared Speicher picked up the win between the pipes making 10 saves.
Northwestern Lehigh (9-6 overall) was led in scoring by sophomore Blaine Snyder and junior Cade Christopher who both scored two goals. Senior Andrew Sabo added a goal and an assist. In goal, sophomore Bailen Smarigassi made four stops.
Emmaus will return to action at 7 p.m. on Wednesday as they travel to rival Parkland in a rematch of last year’s District XI Class 3A championship game won by the Hornets 5-3, their second straight district crown.
