
Eight different Emmaus players found the back of the net last night as the Hornets defeated Freedom 13-9 in their home opener at Memorial Field.
Senior James Schauer led the offense for head coach Justin Fuhrman’s team with a career-high six-point effort, scoring four goals and adding two assists for the Hornets who improved to 2-0 on the season.
Freshman Dylan Maloney and senior Kaleb Mains each added a pair of goals and an assist in the win, while seniors Jewlien Torres, Reilly Bechtel and Gabe Chies along with sophomore Anthony Attar and freshman Greyson Schmidt all added solo tallies.
In goal, senior Jack Sullivan picked up the win making eight saves, while junior Colin Garrett dominated at the faceoff ‘X’ winning 17 of 25.
After a slow start, Emmaus used a six-goal second quarter to open up a 6-4 advantage at the break. The Hornets then outscored the visitors 7-5 the rest of the way.
Freedom, which was coming off of a 17-5 loss to Central Catholic two days earlier, was paced by sophomore Chase Sipel, who led all scorers with a game-high six goals.
Emmaus will return to action at 10 a.m. on Saturday at home taking on Central Bucks East in a non-league game.
