Boys soccer – Cari picks up career win No.299 as Hornets roll past Allen 5-1

RECAP >> Four different players scored goals in the Hornets 5-1 win over Allen on Monday night at J. Birney Crum Stadium in Allentown.

The victory was the 299th in the coaching career of Hornets head coach John Cari. Emmaus’ 18th year coach can secure win No.300 with a victory against rival Parkland on Wednesday.

Junior Elijah Miller and senior Teddy Coenen each scored their second goals of the season in the win, while juniors Marcus Puentes and Simon Isaksson both scored their first career varsity goals.

Emmaus outshot Allen 12-7 in the contest and the Hornets held a huge advantage in corners 11-0. In goal, senior Max McGrath and junior Colin Wilson each had three saves for the Hornets.

Allen dropped to 5-12 on the season with the loss. Moize Baraka scored the Canaries lone goal of the game in the second half.

Emmaus will close out the regular-season tomorrow at 7 p.m. as they travel to rival Parkland. The game will be carried LIVE on www.easternpasportsnetwork.com beginning at 6:45 p.m.
