Boys soccer – Flor tallies two goals for the two-time defending champs as they open up District XI play with 4-1 win over Easton

RECAP >> Senior Bryan Flor scored a pair of goals leading the two-time defending District XI champion Emmaus boys soccer team past Easton 4-1 in Thursday’s District XI Class 4A quarterfinal at Memorial Field.

Flor tallied a goal in each half, his 9th and 10th of the season, for the Hornets who improved to 12-4-5 overall. For his efforts, Flor was named the Sport Clips Player of the Game by The Eastern Pa. Sports Network which carried the game live.

With the victory, Emmaus advances to the semifinals next Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Zephyr Sports Complex at Whitehall High School to take on top-seeded Freedom, which rolled to a 7-1 victory over Stroudsburg, the No.8 seed.

The Hornets and Patriots will be meeting for the third year in a row in districts with Emmaus winning the previous two matchups. The other semifinal will pit Parkland, the No.2 seed, taking on third-seeded Nazareth at Emmaus’ Memorial Field. The championship is scheduled for Thursday, November 4.

Senior Jaeden Amato also scored in the victory for the Hornets, his eighth goal of the season, while classmate Logan Mains also found the back of the net with a little over seven minutes remaining in regulation with his third goal on the year. Senior Ty Bleiler picked up the win in goal for Emmaus.

Easton, the No.5 seed, was able to score and avoid the shutout with 10 minutes left in regulation on senior Andrew Perhamus’ goal. The Red Rovers ended the season with a 12-8 overall mark after dropping four of its last five games.
