RECAP >> State-ranked Emmaus and Cumberland Valley battled for 100 minutes on a damp and dreary afternoon Saturday at Memorial Field with the result ending in a scoreless draw.
This was the first tie of the season for head coach John Cari’s team (12-1-1), who entered the match ranked No. 4 in the PSCA Coaches Poll, while it was the second for the Eagles (7-1-2) ranked No.9.
“We had the better of them,” said Cari, the Hornets 18th year coach. “We missed a couple of sitters. They had one quality shot. They’re a good team, but I walked away frustrated for we had them.”
Neither team was able to generate many scoring opportunities as Emmaus outshot Cumberland Valley 3-2 in the match with both teams each having four corners. Senior Max McGrath made two saves in the game for Emmaus and his counterpart, junior Brodie Murray, was credited with three stops. The shutout was the 12th of the season for the Hornets defense.
Emmaus will return to action on Tuesday at 6 p.m. as they travel to East Stroudsburg South (9-4 EPC/10-4 overall) before returning to Memorial Field for its final home game of the regular-season on Thursday to take on Stroudsburg (4-9) at 6:30 p.m.
