RECAP >> Facing its largest deficit of the season, the Emmaus boys soccer team put together an incredible rally on Monday night to remain unbeaten.
Trailing on the road at Whitehall 2-0, the Hornets rallied with three goals in the last 13 1/2 minutes of play as they stunned by the Zephyrs with a 3-2 come-from-behind win.
Senior Jake Groh’s second goal of the season with 2:44 left in regulation was the game-winner as Emmaus improved to 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference.
Another senior, Andrew Gaines, started the comeback with his third goal of the year with 13:38 to play to make it a 2-1 game before junior Alexzander Toto tied the game at 2-2 with his first goal less than three minutes later.
Junior goalie Chris Buck picked up the win in net making seven saves.
Whitehall, which dropped its second consecutive game after a 3-0 start, got goals from Kresstoph Whittick and Ziyah Atiyeh. Justin Mattison made seven stops in goal.
Emmaus out shot Whitehall 16-9 with the Hornets holding a slim 10-9 advantage in shots on goal. Emmaus dominated corner kicks 10-2
The Hornets will return to action on Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. as they host Easton (3-1) at Memorial Field. Penn Sports Radio will have the game Live beginning with the pregame show at 6:20 p.m.
