Aleksander Przybylski is getting use to these big moments in the post-season for head coach John Cari’s team.
The Emmaus junior, who scored the only goal in his team’s 1-0 overtime playoff victory over Nazareth earlier this week, once again was in the right place at the right time in last night’s Eastern Pennsylvania Conference semifinal at Pleasant Valley High School.
Przybylksi’s ‘golden goal’, his second game-winner in three days, with 3:56 left in the first overtime lifted the defending champs to another heart-stomping 1-0 victory over Northampton.
The win sends the second-seeded Hornets (16-1-3) back to the league championship for the second straight season where they will face fourth-seeded Freedom, which upset top seed and previously unbeaten Parkland by the same 1-0 score in overtime. The game will be played at 1 p.m. on Saturday afternoon at Northampton High School.
Emmaus, which has won 19 league championships, was playing in its sixth overtime game of the season, including its third in the last four games. The Hornets are 3-0-3 in extra session games with a 1-1 tie against Freedom back on September 18.
The Hornets, who defeated Northampton earlier this season 1-0, dominated play for much of the game outshooting the K-Kids 10-1 and holding a 7-1 advantage in corners. In goal, senior Gavin Yartymyk picked up the shutout win.
