Recap >> The No.5 ranked team in the state in AAA according to the Pennsylvania Soccer Coaches Association (PSCA) continued its defensive mastery last week with three more shutouts.
Emmaus (8-0 overall) outscored its opponents 11-0 posting clean sheets against Pocono Mountain East (4-0), Bethlehem Catholic (4-0) and Central Catholic (3-0). Defensively, the Hornets have allowed just one goal in eight games.
Junior Ryan Kiernan continued his torrid scoring pace in leading Emmaus with a goal in each of the three games raising his team-leading total to eight on the season, while senior Blaise Verrastro scored goals in two of the three games.
In last Friday’s win over Central Catholic at Memorial Field, Kiernan converted on a penalty kick in the first half and that was all the scoring the Hornets needed in their 3-0 win. Senior Owen Moyer also scored in the victory and classmate Max McGrath posted yet another shutout in goal.
Emmaus will return to action this week with three games: vs Pocono Mountain West (Tuesday, away 4 pm), Dieruff (Thursday, home 6:30 pm) and Easton (Friday, home 4 pm).
