RECAP >> In a matchup of two unbeatens last night at Nazareth, it was Emmaus, the state’s No.2 ranked team in AAA, staying perfect at night’s end as the Hornets remained perfect in EPC play with a four-set road win (3-1) over the Blue Eagles.

Emmaus (6-0 EPC/8-0 overall) won the first two sets 25-15 and 25-17 before Nazareth took the third set 25-23. The Hornets then closed out the match taking the fourth set 25-21.

Four different Emmaus players reached double figures in kills on the night. Junior MB Jametric Harris and senior OH Logan Dougherty led the offensive attack with each recording a team-leading 13 kills. Senior OPP Johnny Cannone was next with 12 followed by junior OH Cael Kratzer with 10. Junior setter Cooper Henseler dished out an incredible 48 assists, while senior libero Zach Baus led the defense with 26 digs.

“Our back row defense played great and on offense was strong,” said Hornets second year head coach Jeff Elsea. “Jametric and Cooper had great games for us.”

Emmaus will step out of league play this weekend as they compete in the 20-team Koller Classic at Central York High School on Saturday. In pool play, the Hornets will face Central Dauphin, Abington, Penn Manor and Northeastern.
