
Emmaus remained the area’s only unbeaten team on Thursday night as the Hornets defeated Northampton 3-1 inside the school’s auxiliary gymnasium.
The Hornets (9-0 overall/7-0 EPC) won the opening two sets 25-18 and 25-10 before the K-Kids extended the match wining Set 3, 25-21. Emmaus was then able to rebound and finish off the K-Kids with a 25-15 victory in Set 4.
In the victory, senior Lucas Mondin led the Hornets offensive attack with 14 kills, while junior Ben Skekel also had a solid all-around performance with seven kills, four digs and 30 assists.
Also, for the Hornets, sophomore Miles Boulrice had six kills and senior Colin Holden and junior Josiah Brown each had five kills.
Northampton dropped to 5-5 overall and 4-3 in the league with the loss.
Emmaus will return to action this weekend as they travel to Central York High School for the Koller Classic on Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m.
A total of 20 teams will compete in the one-day event. In pool play, the Hornets will face Penn Manor, Cumberland Valley, Central York and Northern York.
