RECAP >> Only once during the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference regular-season has the Emmaus boys volleyball team tasted defeat.
The Hornets will now have the opportunity they’ve waited for to gain revenge for their lone blemish on their schedule.
Second-seeded Emmaus punched their ticket to the EPC championship game and another date with rival Parkland as they defeated third-seeded Freedom 3-1 (25-21, 25-19, 18-25, 25-22) in the semifinals held on Thursday at Allen High School.
The victory marked the second time in 10 days that the Hornets have defeated the Patriots with Emmaus coming away with a similar result when the two teams met on May 1, 3-1.
In the win, junior Jametric Harris had 14 kills to go along with 15 digs, while senior Logan Doughtery had a team-best 15 kills. Senior Cooper Henseler, who was named the EPC MVP earlier this week, dished out 38 assists and had 14 digs.
Up next for Emmaus will be the championship game on Wednesday, May 17 at 6 p.m. at Allen High School. Awaiting the Hornets will be top-seeded Parkland, which defeated Liberty 3-1 in the other semifinal. The Trojans swept the Hornets 3-0 when the two teams met on May 4 at Parkland. Emmaus’ last title came two years ago when they defeated Parkland 3-2 in the finals. The Trojans are the defending champs after beating Northampton in last year’s final.
