Boys Volleyball – Hornets get stiff test from Liberty but remain unbeaten in the EPC with three-set sweep of Hurricane

RECAP >> Emmaus got all they could handle from Liberty on Monday night in Bethlehem, but in the end the Hurricane couldn’t avoid the three-set sweep as the Hornets remained unbeaten in the EPC with a 3-0 win (26-24, 25-15, 31-29).

With the victory, the Hornets, the state’s No.6 ranked team, remained unbeaten at 12-0 overall and 9-0 in the EPC.

Senior Logan Dougherty led the offense with 13 kills, while junior Cael Kratzer was next with 11. Defensively, senior Brian Cobb had a team-high 13 digs and classmate Zach Baus 12. Junior Cooper Henseler, who recorded his 1,000th career assist in last week’s win over Dieruff, dished out a game-high 35 assists

Liberty (8-3) was led by junior Adam Mittl who had an outstanding all around game with 23 kills, 17 digs and three aces. Junior Cristian Matos dished out 30 assists and defensively, senior Matt Gonzalez had 15 digs.

Emmaus will return to action on Wednesday as they host Bethlehem Catholic at 6 p.m.
