Boys Volleyball – Hornets travel north to Delaware Valley and sweep the District 2 champs for the second time in three years in PIAA Tournament; Up next: quarterfinal round matchup vs unbeaten Cumberland Valley

RECAP >> Emmaus made the long trek north to Milford last night in the opening-round of the PIAA State Class 3A Tournament and came away with a victory over host and District 2 champ Delaware Valley.

The Hornets, who were coming off a runner-up finish in the District XI championship game, swept the match 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 25-15) and came away with their second victory over the Warriors in the state tournament in the last three years.

Up next for Emmaus (19-3) with be a berth in the quarterfinals on Saturday against District 3 champ and unbeaten Cumberland Valley. The Eagles defeated William Tennant, the District One third place team, 3-1.

In last night’s match, junior Jametric Harris and senior Logan Dougherty led the offense with 11 and 10 kills, respectively. The defense was led by junior Kyle Long who had 11 digs, senior Brian Cobb was next with nine and Harris and junior Cooper Henseler each had eight. Henseler was credited with 34 assists.

Delaware Valley ended its season at 15-3. The Warriors other two losses this season came against Warwick (3-1) and Parkland (3-0).
