Editor’s Note: Over the next weeks and months, Emmaussports.com will be spotlighting senior spring sports student-athletes at Emmaus High School who have had their final athletic year cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Today we spotlight Reece Wieder (RW) of the boys lacrosse team with our Q & A session:
Q: How are you coping during these difficult and uncertain times with the Coronavirus pandemic?
RW: I am coping by staying active and trying to stay busy so I’m not bored all day.
Q: What’s been the biggest challenge for you day to day?
RW: My biggest challenge is trying to find a way to workout at home without access to the resources I had at a gym to stay in shape for college.
Q: What’s been the biggest challenge for you day to day?
RW: I’ve been watching a lot of TV, working out, going on runs and trying to practice lacrosse when I can.
Q: Now that the spring sports season has been cancelled, how disappointed are you?
RW: I am very disappointed I didn’t get my last year with my teammates and all my friends on the field. I am also disappointed we didn’t get a chance to defend our title again this spring.
Q: What will be your favorite memory from your high school sports career?
RW: My favorite sports memory will always be defeating Parkland in the district finals and ruining their perfect season. The Emmaus/Parkland matchup is always a game looked forward to in every sport and winning that game in that special of an atmosphere will never be forgotten.
Q: What are you future plans after high school? If college, what school have you committed to and do you plan on playing sports and what will be your major?
RW: I am going to attend Nazareth College (Rochester, NY) this fall to continue to play lacrosse and study chemistry on the pre-med track.
Q: What’s the best advice you can give to your underclassmen?
RW: Cherish every moment you get on the field and every chance you get to be with your team, you have less time together than you think.
