Both the Emmaus girls and boys cross country teams wrapped up outstanding regular-season’s yesterday in their final meet held at their home course at Camp Olympic.
The girls went 5-0 with wins over rival Parkland, Central Catholic, Whitehall, Allen and Dieruff to finish 16-1 on the season. Their lone defeat came at the hands of Easton, which wrapped up a perfect regular-season at 17-0.
Six of Emmaus’ runners finished in the top 10 with junior standout Madelyn McCartney once again leading the pack with a time of 18:35. Teammate Payton Campbell placed second (19:25), while Isabella Scarlatta was fifth (20:40), followed by Olivia Fleck (6th/20:41), Addison Johnson (7th/20:47) and Grace Nosal (8th/20:51).
The boys went 3-2, capping off a 14-3 regular-season with wins over Allen, Dieruff and Whitehall, but suffering defeats to Central Catholic and rival Parkland, which finished as the regular-season champs with their perfect 17-0 mark.
Three Hornets – Conor Fisher (3rd/16:42), Ryan Fach (6th/17:01) and Jared Petre (7th/17:05) – all placed in the top 10.
Both squads will return to action on October 15 at 2 p.m. competing at the EPC Championship meet at DeSales University.
