Emmaus scored early and often in its Eastern Pennsylvania Conference semifinal matchup against Nazareth on Tuesday night as the Hornets rolled to a 7-0 victory over the Blue Eagles at the Zephyr Sports Complex in Whitehall.

Senior Addison Povilaitis registered a hat trick to lead the offense for top-seeded Emmaus, which advances to Thursday’s championship game at 7 p.m. at Bethlehem Area School District Stadium. The Hornets will be aiming for their 11th straight league title and 43rd overall as a program.

Awaiting head coach Sue Butz-Stavin’s team (19-1 overall) will be a familiar foe in second-seeded Easton, which advanced with a 2-1 overtime victory over third-seeded Parkland.

The Hornets defeated the Red Rovers in the season-opener 5-0 back on August 25 and also in last year’s EPC championship game, 4-1. The two teams have met in the finals in three of the last four years with Emmaus prevailing in all of the previous matchups.

In last night’s win, sophomores Riley Povilaitis and Ella Horner, senior Avery Burnett and junior Madi Lenig all scored goals, while sophomore Marissa Gigliotti had a big game with a career-high four assists.

Emmaus outshot Nazareth in the game 24-3 and held a 9-1 advantage in penalty corners. In goal, junior Emily Romano (one save) and senior Aiko Price (two saves) combined on the shutout, the 15th of the season for the Hornets.
