Field Hockey – Burnett, Herbine and Zerfass lead way as Emmaus routs Liberty 12-0 on Senior Night; Hornets prep now for much-anticipated showdown vs New Jersey’s top-ranked team

RECAP >> Emmaus celebrated its Senior Night on Thursday at home at Memorial Field by going out and cruising to an easy 12-0 rout of Liberty.

All three seniors who were honored prior to the game – Abby Burnett, Rachel Herbine and Ava Zerfass – combined to tally 10 goals on the night.

Burnett scored a career-high five goals – all in the second half – to lead the nation’s No.1 team who improved to 13-0 overall (11-0 EPC). The shutout was also the 12th of the season.

Herbine also had a big game with a hat trick and a career-high six assists, while Zerfass added a pair of goals.

Juniors Hailey Cook and Melea Weber also scored in the victory.

Statistically, Emmaus dominated outshooting Liberty (4-9-1) 37-0 and 17-0 in penalty corners. In goal, junior Emma Cari posted her 12th shutout.

The Hornets will close out the week at Noon on Saturday at home as they host New Jersey’s No.1 ranked team, Oak Knoll on Alumni Day. The game will be carried LIVE on www.easternpasportsnetwork.com beginning with the pregame show at 11:40 a.m.
