RECAP >> Another regular-season complete and another undefeated season for the Emmaus field hockey program.

The Hornets, the No.1 ranked team in the country, closed out a perfect 14-game slate in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference (EPC) last night by going on the road and defeating archrival Parkland 3-0.

With the victory, Emmaus finishes 14-0 in league play and clinches the top-seed for the upoming EPC playoffs where they’ve won seven straight championships. Their overall record on the season is now 18-0 and it’s the program’s 62nd straight victory in the last three years.

Senior Abby Burnett scored the only goal Emmaus would need in last night’s win just two minutes into the second quarter. Burnett also had an assist in her team’s second goal less than two minutes later on classmate Rachel Herbine’s team-leading 37th goal of the season. For her efforts, Burnett was named the SportClips Player of the Game presented by The Eastern Pa. Sports Network which broadcasted the game.

Junior Sage Pilarski scored the only goal of the game in the second half – her sixth of the season – off an assist from sophomore Autum Kernechel.

Emmaus outshot Parkland 20-4 in the contest and held a 12-7 advantage in penalty corners. Junior Emma Cari picked up the win in goal making three saves and posting her 14th shutout. Her counterpart, senior Hope Paterick, was busy making 16 stops.

The Hornets will return to action on Saturday at home at Memorial Field as they will host a EPC quarterfinal round matchup. The time and opponent to be determined.
